NEC New Zealand appoints new Managing Director to lead business expansion
Wellington, 24 August 2016 - NEC New Zealand, a leading technology solutions and services provider, today announced the appointment of Takashi Tada as its new Managing Director. He will be responsible for leading NEC New Zealand to continue its business transformation endeavours and achieve business growth in the country.
Mr Tada has close to 20 years of experience with NEC’s global business, where he has held several senior roles with management and strategic planning responsibilities in the company’s IT and telecommunications businesses. Since starting out in sales at NEC Corporation’s 1st Asia Division, he has developed operational skills and honed management competence working primarily in the Greater China and Asia Pacific region with three global postings in the Philippines, Singapore, and most recently Australia.
From 2004 through 2008, he joined NEC Solutions Asia Pacific (now renamed NEC Asia Pacific) in Singapore and took on a leadership role in regional business expansion. He was involved in helping the company build local expertise in order to create new businesses in the region while diversifying and bolstering NEC’s local solutions and delivery capabilities.
Prior to this new appointment, he was General Manager of Corporate Strategy at NEC Australia since April 2015, where he was responsible for developing new businesses and leading strategic initiatives in the local market, as well as taking on roles in marketing and corporate functions.
Mr Tada stated, “I am very honoured to be appointed as Managing Director of NEC New Zealand and do look forward to working with my Kiwi colleagues to bring the company to new heights and achieve steady growth together. Over the last few years, our New Zealand operations have witnessed exciting local innovations and subsequent growth in new areas, and have undergone a gradual shift in focus – we are transforming ourselves from a solely communications business into an innovative and integrated ICT solutions and services organisation that contributes to multiple areas of society and community.”
Mr Tada will continue to empower people through innovation and collaboration with various local and global initiatives and projects. “With a strong, enthusiastic team, NEC New Zealand will continue to thrive towards our goal of becoming one of the leading and most recognised ICT players in New Zealand.”
Mr Tetsuro Akagi, Chief Executive Officer of NEC Asia Pacific, who concurrently held the Managing Director position for NEC New Zealand since June this year, commented, “I am pleased to welcome Mr Tada on board at the helm of NEC’s New Zealand business. Given our new business models being devised and refined there, I am confident that Mr Tada will drive our innovation journey while strengthening our relationships with customers and partners.”
Mr Akagi has relinquished his role as Managing Director of NEC New Zealand.
